AJS expands product range as year kicks offPosted: 31st January 2014
One of the country’s leading independent sawmills is investing in new production capability to meet demand for specialist fencing products as it prepares for a record year ahead.
Northumberland based A&J Scott supply sawn home grown timber to customers in the fencing and outdoor products sectors, specialising in fencing products, landscaping sleepers and timber components used by manufacturing companies.
The company is now installing 2 new machines to meet demand for its range of fencing products. The first will see a new product added to the company’s range – ‘tenon ended’ arris rails – while the second will increase efficiency on ‘v-notched’ posts to hold arris rails.
Arris rails have long been part of the company’s range, but in response to customer requirements they will now have the ability to produce rails with a shaped end to slot easily into morticed timber or concrete posts. The new capability on v-notching will speed up a process that until now has been a relatively slow, labour intensive part of the range.
This investment builds on a series of increases in production and timber treatment capacity at the Northumberland site over recent years, with further development in the pipeline.
Managing Director, Robert Scott, said, “We were delighted with performance in 2013 overall, and have had a record start to the new year. This investment continues our commitment to offer a quality product range and service to customers in our core fencing market”.
