Record start to year for A&J Scott!Posted: 25th January 2017
A recent investment in a new Bruks chipper and improved waste handling systems have helped A&J Scott to a strong start to the year. Following a major upgrade of its main volume production sawmill, Mill 7, completed last year in partnership with Soderhamn Eriksson and Milltech, the further work was undertaken in December to meet the additional waste handling requirement of the resulting increased production capacity.
And the new year has seen the company reap the benefits of the recent investment programme, with the first full week’s production of the year setting an all-time record output from Mill 7. With rising productivity reaping dividends in Mill 7 and a new shift pattern being introduced in Mill 9, the bandmill installed in 2014, the company is aiming to increase its overall output for the year by over 15%, building on its success achieved through high standards of quality and service.
Robert Scott, Managing Director, said, “This latest investment will increase our output of high quality fencing products to complement the increased range of railway sleepers and landscaping timbers we are producing. It's a great feeling to start the new year by bringing the upgraded production facilities online, and we are looking forward to another strong year ahead."
