Upgraded Mill Kicks Off New Year for AJSPosted: 11th January 2016
In a bright start to the new year for A&J Scott, the company has completed a major upgrade of its main volume production sawmill, in partnership with Soderhamn Eriksson and Milltech.
With work beginning last December, the main sawline now boasts a new 3D system that has an MPM scanner, auto-log rotation and a side-shifting LogPos infeed. This system now feeds a Reducer Quad Bandsaw, replacing a 2D system and canter/double arbor circular saw. Meanwhile the edger line has been been replaced with a new Catech 400 with a 3-bladed sawbox. As well as installing the electronic control system for the 3D sawline, Milltech also replaced the control electronics for the whole mill including tray-sorting and subfloor etc.
Robert Scott, Managing Director, said, “This investment will help us to continue the growth we have achieved over recent years, with a new bandmill and other production upgrades all completed. As the trade gets back into action after the Christmas break we are aiming to build on the high standards of customer service and product quality we have established in order to meet the needs of our wide ranging customers."
"This latest investment will increase our output of high quality fencing products to complement the increased range of railway sleepers and landscaping timbers we are also producing. It's a great feeling to start the new year by bringing the upgraded production facilities online, and we are looking forward to another strong year ahead."
